I didn’t make it to the Bologna Children’s Book Fair this year, but my art sure did!
My little Puddle jumper is proudly featured on the Virtual Illustrators Wall, alongside other talented Portuguese illustrators. The virtual gallery is running from March through September 30, 2025.
As both a book lover and an aspiring children’s book illustrator, the Bologna Children’s Book Fair has always been an event to look forward to. It’s the world’s leading gathering for children’s literature, where illustrators, authors, publishers, and industry professionals come together share their work, books, and connect.
The Virtual Illustrators Wall is a vibrant digital gallery showcasing illustrations, posters, photographs, and artist profiles. With over 1,000 international illustrators participating in its 6th edition.

Meet my little Puddle jumper
Here’s my little gnome, caught mid-jump, just before making a big splash!
It’s is about that fleeting moment of childhood excitement when you’re about to dive into a puddle —full of energy, anticipation, and fun. I used simple shapes, soft blue tones, and the textured feel of colored pencils to bring that carefree excitement to life. It is simple, so anyone can re-connect with their own childhood memories and imagination.
By working with traditional media, I wanted to create an illustration with a sense of nostalgia and authenticity, capturing the spontaneity and fun of childhood play.
